M.A.G. Commendation to NY
State Asembly August
22, 2000: Greetings:
Mothers Against Guns, Inc., wishes to commend the New York State Assembly for
the passage of the "historic law (A.11535,
Chapter 189)" which will certainly protect our children and others from
the national epidemic of gun violence.
These acts of violence committed by, and against our youth has left such a
devastating impact on our society. Common sense gun laws must prevail if we are
to prevent more tragedies from occurring.
Several months ago, we submitted a proposal to our dear friend, New York City
Councilman Thomas White, Jr. to reduce gun related violence. We proposed that
persons seeking to purchase bullets complete an application form, and provide
the make, model, and serial number of the weapon they are purchasing the bullets
for.
Common sense dictates that a gun is useless without bullets and we believe such
a law would reduce gun violence dramatically. Hopefully, the proposal will be
forwarded to the NY City Council for consideration in the very near future.
Again, keep up the good work, and we look forward to one day visiting when the
assembly is in session.
